Caddo Board Appoints Interim District 10 Representative
Following the interviews of seven community members, the Caddo Parish School Board voted to appoint Durwood D. Hendricks, Jr. to serve District 10 as interim board member through December 31, 2018.
Hendricks, who also serves District 10 as President of the Southern Hills Homeowners Association, said he is a product of Caddo schools and his parents were longtime educators in the district.
“I believe any one of the individuals who interviewed would have served our community well and I’m grateful to the Board for selecting,” Hendricks said. “My only goal is to give every student in Southern Hills and Caddo everything they need to be successful. I’m excited to begin my work with the Board and to help others as we work to pass policies that better our schools.”
Hendricks was sworn in by Board general counsel Reginald Abrams and immediately began his work as a board member by making his first motion. He took the seat of Larry E. Ramsey who passed away on Feb. 10 following a long battle with pancreatic cancer. A 15-year veteran of the Board, Ramsey began his service in January 2003.
A general election for the District 10 Board Representative seat will take place in November with service beginning January 1, 2019.
