Caddo Parish School Board sworn in, elects officers
In a standing room only meeting of the Caddo Parish School Board, the 12 members of the Board were sworn in Tuesday surrounded by family, friends and fellow elected officials.
As part of the special ceremony, former Mayor and former Caddo Superintendent Ollie S. Tyler delivered a powerful charge to the Board imploring members to realize the opportunity they have to better the community from the earliest of student ages.
The Oath of Office was then administered by Juvenile Court Judge Ree Casey-Jones and featured nine returning members in addition to three new members of the Board: Lloyd Thompson representing District 3, Don Little representing District 4 and Tony Nations representing District 10.
Following the ceremony, the Board elected District 6 Representative Mary Trammel to serve as Board President with District 9 Representatives Barry Rachal serving as First Vice President and District 2 Representative Jasmine Green serving as Second Vice President. The election marks Trammel’s second tenure as Board President – a role she first held in 2016.
Trammel thanked District 1 Representative Steve Riall for his support of all Board Members and his continued professionalism as Board President during 2018.
“Mr. Riall, you are by far the best Board President we have had and I cannot thank you enough for all you have done for the children of this district,” Trammel said.
