National Board Certified Teacher Laura Addington has completed numerous hurdles as she has worked to hone her craft as a teacher to students from across Caddo Parish. In May, Addington’s tireless commitment to education was honored as she was named a U.S. Presidential Scholars Distinguished Educator by the Louisiana Department of Education.
Addington, who teaches Spanish at Caddo Parish Magnet High School, was the only recipient of the award from Louisiana. She was nominated by Caddo Magnet High graduating senior Dakota Simpson, Louisiana’s U.S. Presidential Scholar. Simpson, who earned a perfect score on the ACT, credits Addington’s heart for students with making the difference in his own academic experiences and pushing him further.
Simpson was the first U.S. Presidential Scholar from Caddo Schools in a decade.
