Caddo Schools, Hosted The 14th Annual Most Improved Student Celebration

Red River United, in conjunction with Caddo Parish Public Schools, hosted the 14th Annual Most Improved Student Celebration Wednesday, May 3, 2017.

The event was held at the Southwood High School Auditorium. The Most Improved Student Celebration recognized one student from each of Caddo Parish’s public schools who turned his or her life around. Students were selected by the faculty and staff of their respective schools, and they were celebrated for improving in academics, behavior, and/or their showing of school pride. Southwood Principal Jeff Roberts provided the opening remarks, Southwood ROTC posted colors, and a wonderful musical selection dedicated to the honorees was provided by Southwood Symphonic Winds.  Chief of Human Resources Diane Atkins led the invocation with Superintendent Dr. Goree, Caddo Parish Board President Denee Locke, and Red River United President Jackie Lansdale speaking of the promise of public education. Director Leisa Edwards served as the keynote speaker motivating students to keep their eyes on the finish line while ignoring the naysayers.
