Caddo Parish Public Schools is proud to announce its 2025-2026 Support Persons of the Year, recognizing three outstanding employees whose dedication, leadership and service exemplify excellence across the district.  Honored this year are Mary Herrington, High School Support Person of the Year; Monique Davenport, Middle School Support Person of the Year; and Regina Knight, Elementary School Support Person of the Year.

“These honorees represent the very best of Caddo Schools,” said Superintendent Keith Burton. “Their commitment to students, families and staff members makes a lasting impact every single day.”

Honorees were surprised on Thursday by district leadership, family members, and members of the Caddo Parish School Board during on-campus celebrations recognizing their outstanding service.

High School Support Person of the Year: Mary Herrington

Registrar, Northwood High School

For more than 25 years, Mary Herrington has been a constant, trusted presence at Northwood High School. Serving as registrar, she oversees student registration and countless clerical responsibilities, but her influence reaches far beyond any job description.

Known as the “heart and soul” of the campus, Herrington welcomes new families, helps students resolve scheduling challenges, supports teachers through complex class leveling and serves as the go-to expert on the student information system. Even after decades of service, she continues learning and adapting, proving that growth has no age limit.

Her dedication extends well beyond the school day. Herrington works the side gate at every home football game, attends major school dances such as homecoming and prom, supports Homecoming Court traditions, volunteers at major fundraisers like Taste of Blanchard, covers the front office when needed, sells concessions and consoles students with care and compassion.

Respected by faculty, students, administrators and community members alike, Herrington is known for her unwavering optimism and steady encouragement. For more than two decades, she has helped shape a positive image of Northwood High School and the North Shreveport community, leading by example and reminding everyone that the best place to grow is right where you are.

Middle School Support Person of the Year: Monique Davenport

Cafeteria Manager, Linear-Northside Middle School

Monique Davenport begins each school day with a warm smile, greeting every student by name as they pass through the cafeteria line. As cafeteria manager, she has built meaningful relationships with students, listens to their feedback on menu options and maintains a spotless cafeteria with a small staff, all while never once complaining about workload or staffing challenges.

Davenport consistently goes above and beyond her assigned duties. When Saturday tutoring programs needed snacks, she took the initiative to coordinate resources and then volunteered to be present every Saturday to ensure students were supported. She also attends family engagement events such as Family Math and Literacy Nights, strengthening connections between the school and community.

As a leader, Davenport works alongside her team daily, cooking, serving and cleaning as needed. She is highly respected in the community she calls home, with parents frequently expressing gratitude for the kindness and positivity she shows their children. Her calm demeanor, joyful spirit, and commitment to excellence make the cafeteria a place students are excited to visit each day.

Elementary School Support Person of the Year: Regina Knight

Early Childhood Special Education Paraprofessional, Riverside Elementary School

Regina Knight’s dedication to students is evident in every aspect of her work. Serving as an early childhood special education paraprofessional, she provides one-on-one and small-group support to students with exceptional needs, collaborates closely with teachers and willingly steps in wherever support is needed, even outside her assigned classroom.

Knight routinely donates her own time, coming in on planned days off to support students and spending hours preparing classrooms for the new school year. Beyond the classroom, she leads Show Choir practices, Elite Club meetings and family engagement events, often staying after school and working evenings to ensure meaningful experiences for students and families.

Her leadership extends into the community through organizing service projects, coordinating educational field trips, mentoring students academically and emotionally and directing performances at community events and local nursing homes. Knight is widely respected by colleagues and administrators for her teamwork, initiative and positive relationships, and her work has earned praise from district leaders.

Every morning, she can be found at carpool duty, greeting students and families with encouragement and positivity. Through her clubs, performances and daily interactions, Knight consistently builds a positive image for Riverside Elementary and strengthens connections between school, families and the broader community.
