Associate Degree

Before walking across the stage to receive their high school diplomas next week, members of Caddo Schools’ Class of 2026 have already achieved a historic academic milestone: 106 associate degrees earned through the district’s partnership with Southern University at Shreveport.

Through the district’s partnership with Southern University at Shreveport, students have had the opportunity to complete college coursework while still enrolled in high school, accelerating their postsecondary journeys and opening doors to future success.

The 106 associate-degree earners span six Caddo high schools, including 43 students hailing from Woodlawn High School, 32 from Huntington High School, 17 from Green Oaks Performing Arts Academy, 12 from Booker T. Washington High School, one from Southwood High School and one from Pathways in Education.

The milestone comes as Caddo continues to expand a robust series of dual enrollment, early college and workforce development opportunities for high school students across the parish. In addition to college-credit pathways, students are able to pursue industry-based credentials and career-focused training that position them to enter high-demand industries immediately upon graduation or continue their education in higher education with a stronger foundation.

Caddo’s approach is critical to ensuring students graduate with more than a diploma. Whether students are earning college credit, completing an associate degree, gaining hands-on work experience through work-based learning or internships or securing industry-based credentials, the district is focused on helping students leave high school with clear options and a competitive advantage.

“This is what preparing students for the future looks like,” said Superintendent Keith Burton said. “We want every graduate to leave Caddo with momentum, whether that means stepping onto a college campus with a number of credits already earned, entering the workforce with valuable credentials or pursuing both.”

Caddo is proud to celebrate the Class of 2026 during district commencement exercises next week.
