Yazzy Spring Performance
Theatre of the Performing Arts of Shreveport is proud to announce its 19th annual Yazzy Youth Celebrating Jazz Concert, our first live performance in 2 years! This performance features 25 Caddo students representing 9 schools.
This performance will pay tribute to several historically black colleges and universities across the country. With their rich culture and heritage, HBCUs not only provide academic excellence, but have helped shape the lives of some of our greatest African American entertainers. Many actors, singers, producers, authors, and politicians attended an HBCU, so this production celebrates the work and life of a few alumni such as Phylicia Rashad, Samuel L Jackson, Anika Rose, Oprah Winfrey, and Erykah Badu just to name a few.
Join us Friday, May 20, 7:00 pm, at Green Oaks Performing Arts Academy as our Yazzy students present “Keeping the Legacy Alive: HBCUs Matter”. Adult tickets are $10.00. Children/Youth (w/ID) tickets $5.00. Tickets can be purchased at the door on May 20th. Cash, checks, and cash app transactions accepted. Extra $2 fee for cash app transactions. For more information, contact 318-525-0740 or 318-621-8914.
