A familiar face will be returning to Huntington High School! We are excited to share that Nicholaus Smith is the new Principal of Huntington, a campus where he played an integral part in the school’s success during his five years as an Assistant Principal. Mr. Smith previously served as the Principal of Caddo Middle Career & Technology School, where he worked diligently to enhance the climate and culture at CMCTS. During his tenure, he saw growth in teacher retention and student achievement.

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Matthew Mitchell will serve as the district's Executive Director of Secondary Curriculum and Instruction. The position works directly to support our schools in ensuring they have the tools for each student to achieve success in their K-12 secondary careers by ensuring the highest-quality teaching and learning is taking place with a focus on career pathways and access to rigorous programs.
Over the last five years, Dr. Mitchell has served as the Principal of Huntington High School where he led the school to sizable gains in school performance along with recognition on the state stage for efforts in dual enrollment. The Caddo Parish School Board on Tuesday unanimously approved using higher-than-expected sales tax revenues to fund a $1,000 stipend for employees. The stipend is a token of appreciation for the hard work and dedication of our staff.
Additionally, the district is actively hiring teachers and support staff for the 2023-2024 school year. New teachers will be eligible for the Board and $2,000 state-approved one-time supplements but also a $1,000 new hire stipend. We are excited to announce Jessica Rambo-Franklin will be serving as the next principal of North Highlands Elementary!
Mrs. Rambo-Franklin most recently served as Assistant Principal of Oak Park Elementary, where she worked closely with the Principal to enhance instruction and high-quality teaching and learning. From 2017 to 2020, she served as Oak Park’s Master Teacher and developed school plans designed to address individual student needs while implementing Teacher Advancement Program (TAP) processes and best practices. A graduate of Louisiana State University-Shreveport and Louisiana College, Mrs. Rambo-Franklin began her career at Atkins Elementary in 2008 before moving to DeSoto Parish where she served as a teacher for 7 years at Mansfield Elementary/Middle.

We also celebrated our U.S. Presidential Scholar, U.S. Presidential Distinguished Teacher Scholar, Louisiana Teacher of the Year Finalist and JAG National Title Competitor.
